\nOn the Cisco Certification page, you can find all Cisco certifications grouped by levels of professional qualification: Entry, Associate, Professional, Expert, and Architect. <\/p>\n

The CCNA certification corresponds to the basic level of Associate certification, which confirms the knowledge required to install, configure, and manage medium-sized local and global networks. <\/p>\n

\nThe Entry level includes certifications CCENT (Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician) and CCT (Technician). If you click on CCENT, you will be taken to a page with a detailed description of the certification and stating that no prerequisites are required to obtain it. To earn this certification, you need to pass the 100-105 ICND1 exam. The Associate level consists of various specializations, similarly structured to the Professional, Expert, and Architect levels.<\/p>\n

When we talk about the CCNA certification, we mean that it represents a specialization in routing and network communication \u2013 CCNA Routing & Switching. It is clear that a specialist with such a certification will deal with Cisco routers and switches. This is the most general specialization offered by Cisco. <\/p>\n

If you look at the CCNA Security specialist certificate, you will find that a valid CCENT, CCNA Routing & Switching, or any CCIE certificate is required to obtain it. It is worth noting that the CCNA R & S certificate serves as the foundation for many other specialized certificates.
\nThe situation is similar for obtaining professional-level certificates: if you need the CCNP R & S, you must already hold the CCNA R & S certificate. Likewise, to obtain the CCNP Security, you need to have the CCNA Security. <\/p>\n

Previously, to obtain the CCNA R & S certificate, you only had to pass one exam, but a couple of years ago Cisco made some changes. Those with prior preparation can continue to take the single exam 200-125 CCNA, but if you lack technical education, you can try passing two exams: 100-105 ICND1, which is the same exam taken for the CCENT certificate, and the 200-105 ICND2 exam. By passing both exams, you can obtain the CCNA certificate. <\/p>\n

\nAs we already mentioned, there are no prerequisites for taking these exams to obtain the certificate. The single exam is abbreviated as CCNAX, or 'accelerated'. You might wonder about the cost of the certificates: Cisco CCNA costs $295 if you take the single exam 200-125 CCNA. Each of the other two exams will cost you $150. Thus, by taking 2 exams, you pay $5 extra for the convenience of taking them instead of one exam. You can choose how best to take the exams. I would recommend taking the two exams in succession. <\/p>\n

Let\u2019s take a look at what the exam 100-105 ICND1 entails; for that, let\u2019s click on it and go to the description page. There are four tabs: Exam Overview, Exam Preparation, Take Exam, and Policies. To take the exam, you need to register in the Pearson VUE system. <\/p>\n

\nIf you click the Register at Pearson VU button, you will be taken to the website home.pearsonvue.com\/cisco, where on the right side of the page you will see the Sign In and Create Account buttons. After you register on the site, you enter the exam number 100-105 into the search form, then look for a suitable date and a nearby Cisco center to register for the exam and then you can make an online payment. To find a nearby test center, click on the Find a test center link and enter your address in the search bar. <\/p>\n

\nCisco test centers are located everywhere, and I don't know of even the smallest village that doesn't have at least one such center. While such places may exist, I personally have not encountered any.<\/p>\n

\nLet's enter the name Coventry in the search bar, because I studied in Coventry, West Midlands, England. It is a very small town, but as you can see, there is 1 such center in Coventry and another 4 are located 16-17 miles away. If you click the Show more test centers button, you will see a few more locations that are at a greater distance from Coventry, such as in Birmingham. After selecting a center, you head there to take the exam.<\/p>\n

The exam consists of 45-55 multiple-choice questions, usually four options, to be answered within 90 minutes. This is quite easy, the exam is conducted on computers, and all you need to do is practice solving similar problems well before taking the exam, as the time is limited. You have no more than 2 minutes for each answer, so you shouldn't 'linger' over one question for too long \u2014 if you don't know the answer, move on to the next. <\/p>\n

\nYou can see the topic sections of the ICND1 exam, and as soon as I finish the video lesson on these exam topics, I will move on to the topics of the ICND2 exam. After 50 or 60 video lessons, you will have fully covered the entire CCNA course. \nThis is a comparison and distinction between the OSI and TCP\/IP models, the TCP and UDP protocols, a description of the components of a local network infrastructure, comparisons and differences in network topologies, and so on \u2013 all these topics were covered in previous lessons. <\/p>\n

Next is the topic \"Basics of LAN Switching,\" which makes up 26% of the course. It includes a description and definition of communication concepts, a description of the Ethernet frame format, and much more that we have also discussed. If I missed anything, I will return to these questions. Thus, if you look at these topics, you will see which ones we have studied and which ones we have not covered yet. We will soon discuss some questions related to IP addressing and will return to a detailed examination of IPv6. We also covered questions about network device security, Native VLAN, sticky mode, MAC address limitations, and so on.<\/p>\n

\nYou can print the list of topics and mark those that we have already covered. As we progress further through the course, we will review this list to know what we have covered and what we still need to study. To prepare for the exam, you must study all these topics, one by one.
\nSo, we have finished studying switches and have briefly looked at the operation of routers. I will talk a bit about troubleshooting switches, and I hope that by around the 30th video lesson, you will be ready to take the ICND1 exam. Secondly, you need to complete practical assignments, type commands on your own laptop, and, if possible, use Cisco Packet Tracer or GNS3 or physical devices.
