The update <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/devices.ubuntu-touch.io\/\">has been formed<\/a><\/noindex> is available for smartphones like OnePlus One, Fairphone 2, Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 2013, Meizu MX4\/PRO 5, Bq Aquaris E5\/E4.5\/M10. The project also includes <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/unity8.io\/\">is being developed<\/a><\/noindex> an experimental desktop port <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/ubports\/unity8\">Unity 8<\/a><\/noindex>, available for <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/ubports\/unity8-desktop-install-tools\">builds<\/a><\/noindex> Ubuntu 16.04 and 18.04. <\/p>\n<p>The release is based on Ubuntu 16.04 (OTA-3 was based on Ubuntu 15.04, and starting from OTA-4, the transition to Ubuntu 16.04 was made). As in the previous release, the main focus during the preparation of OTA-10 was on bug fixes and increasing stability. The transition to new releases of Mir and the Unity 8 shell has once again been postponed. Testing of the build with Mir 1.1, qtcontacts-sqlite (from Sailfish), and the new Unity 8 is being conducted in a separate experimental branch.<noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/forums.ubports.com\/topic\/2436\/living-on-the-edge-how-to-install-ubuntu-touch-from-the-edge-channel\">edge<\/a><\/noindex>. The transition to the new Unity 8 will result in the discontinuation of support for smart scopes and the integration of the new App Launcher interface. Furthermore, there are expectations for full support of an environment for running Android applications based on the developments of the project. <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/anbox.io\/\">Anbox<\/a><\/noindex>.<\/p>\n<p>Key Changes: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> The SMS and MMS messaging app has added support for drafting messages \u2014 now, while writing text, you can leave the chat and return later to finish and send the message. Insertion of phone numbers into the recipient field has been improved. The issue of accidentally switching the display of the username and phone number in the header has been resolved. An option for choosing a dark or light theme has been added to the settings.\n<li class=\"l\"> The Libertine app manager now has a feature for searching packages in the repo.ubports.com archive (previously, the search was limited to PPA stable-phone-overlay) and the ability to proceed with the installation of selected packages from the search results list.\n<li class=\"l\"> PulseAudio modules have been implemented to provide basic sound support for devices running Android 7.1.\n<li class=\"l\"> A trimmed implementation of the compositor has been added. <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/pierrchen.blogspot.ru\/2014\/02\/what-is-surfaceflinger-in-android.html\">SurfaceFlinger<\/a><\/noindex> for camera usage on some devices with Android 7.1.\n<li class=\"l\"> New wallpapers have been added for Fairphone 2 and Nexus 5 devices.\n<p><center><noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/user-images.githubusercontent.com\/16186470\/46234288-13c47700-c376-11e8-8032-0047754ba138.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"The tenth firmware update for UBports, the successor to Ubuntu Touch \" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/9fadf0416f035f74530eda71395850c1.png\" style=\"display:block;margin: 0 auto;\" \/><\/a><\/noindex><\/center><\/p>\n<li class=\"l\"> Compatibility has been improved for Nexus 5, Fairphone 2, and OnePlus One smartphones. These backends were unstable, leading to erroneous location information. After their removal, location determination is limited to GPS and mobile network information, but the service now operates accurately and predictably.
