During the gaming exhibition gamescom 2019, developers from 4A Games showed a trailer<\/a><\/noindex> and launched the first expansion «Two Colonels» for their action movie Metro Exodus<\/a><\/noindex>. But that\u2019s not all the news regarding the universe «Metro», created by Dmitry Alekseevich Glukhovsky. During the broadcast on TV-3<\/a><\/noindex> on «VKontakte» (and then on Instagram<\/a><\/noindex>) the writer announced the preparation of the film «Metro 2033».<\/p>\n

The premiere of the full-length feature film based on the eponymous post-apocalyptic novel is scheduled for January 1, 2022. The producers are Evgeny Vladimirovich Nikishov and Valery Valeryevich Fedorovich, who were responsible for projects such as «Chernobyl. Exclusion Zone», «Gogol» and «Police Officer from Rublyovka». Production will be handled by the TV channel TV-3, TNT-PREMIER Studios, and the film company «Central Partnership» (part of «Gazprom-Media»), with the author also participating in the work.<\/p>\n

«„Metro 2033“ — my first novel, it played a completely special role in my life, and despite numerous offers to adapt it, I waited more than ten years for this. In Russia, I did not see producers capable of bringing this book to the screen, — Mr. Glukhovsky noted, adding that now a suitable team has finally appeared. — Our ambitions coincide — to create a blockbuster of world level and surprise even those who have read the trilogy „Metro“ and know it by heart. And to not disappoint them, I am ready to become the creative producer of the film and help create it with both words and actions».<\/p>\n

Valery Fedorovich, in turn, emphasized that the adaptation of «Metro 2033» will be the most ambitious and large-scale film ever launched by his holding. The budget for creation and promotion (including outside of Russia) promises to be record-breaking. Judging by the release date, the creators are confident in success and are not afraid of competition for audience wallets with New Year's blockbusters. Nothing has been reported about the cast of the upcoming film.<\/p>\n

\u201cMetro 2033\u201d \u2014 the first part of the trilogy of novels about life in the Moscow metro after a nuclear war. The book became an international bestseller and has been translated into 37 languages, not least due to its video game adaptation. Let's hope that the film adaptation will be worthy and won't repeat the fate of a similar Hollywood project that was announced in March 2016 and then faded away, which was meant to be produced by Michael De Luca, who worked on films like \u201cThe Social Network\u201d and \u201cFifty Shades of Grey.\u201d<\/p>\n
