After more than a year of development prepared<\/a><\/noindex> distribution release LXLE 18.04.3<\/a><\/noindex>, which is developed for use on outdated systems. The LXLE distribution is based on the work of Ubuntu MinimalCD<\/a><\/noindex> and aims to provide a lightweight solution that combines support for old hardware with a modern user environment. The need for a separate branch arises from the desire to include additional drivers for older systems and the redesign of the user interface. The initial download size is ISO images<\/a><\/noindex> 1.3 GB (x86_64, i386).<\/p>\n

A set of internet applications is offered in the distribution, including SeaMonkey with extensions Lightning<\/a><\/noindex>, Stylish<\/a><\/noindex>, Bluhell firewall<\/a><\/noindex> and FireFTP<\/a><\/noindex>. Messaging is provided by uTox<\/a><\/noindex>. Updates are managed by its own update manager uCareSystem<\/a><\/noindex>, which is run using cron to get rid of unnecessary background processes. By default, the file system offered is Btrfs. The graphical environment is built on LXDE components, the Compton compositor, and the launch interface for programs Fehlstart<\/a><\/noindex> and applications from the LXQt, MATE, and Linux Mint projects.<\/p>\n

The composition of the new release is synchronized with the package base of the Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS branch (this is the first release based on Ubuntu 18.04). Efforts have been made to reduce the size of the distribution; GIMP is replaced with Pinta,
\n Htop with Lxtask, FBreader with Bookworm, OpenShot with Pitivi, LibreOffice with Abiword\/Gnumeric\/Spice-Up, the default terminal is now Sakura, and Pulse Audio Equalizer, Lubuntu Software Center, and OpenJDK have been excluded. The default theme is Greybird<\/a><\/noindex>. SeaMonkey has been updated to the release 2.49.5<\/a><\/noindex>. Added the ability to open files with root privileges. Performance optimization of the menu has been carried out.<\/p>\n
