Work on Funtoo 2.0 is expected to start in about a month.<\/p>\n<p>Key features of Funtoo include support for automatic package building from source code (packages are synchronized from Gentoo), <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/funtoo\/meta-repo\">Git<\/a><\/noindex> using a distributed portage tree, a more compact format for build manifests, and the use of <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/funtoo\/metro\">Metro<\/a><\/noindex> for creating live builds. The ready-made builds <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.funtoo.org\/Subarches\">installation images<\/a><\/noindex> have not been updated for a long time, and to install, <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.funtoo.org\/Install\/Introduction\">it is recommended to<\/a><\/noindex> you must use an old LiveCD with subsequent manual deployment of Stage3 components and portages.<\/p>\n<p>Key <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.funtoo.org\/Release_Notes\/1.4-release\">changes<\/a><\/noindex>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> The build tools have been updated to GCC 9.2;\n<li class=\"l\"> Additional dependency testing and resolution of related issues have been conducted;\n<li class=\"l\"> New Debian-sources and debian-sources-lts kernels have been added, ported from Debian;\n<li class=\"l\"> The Debian-sources-lts kernel build includes the USE flag 'custom-cflags' by default, which activates additional optimizations. When compiling the kernel, options '-march' are also added from user settings tied to the current architecture.\n<li class=\"l\"> GNOME 3.32 is offered as the desktop environment;\n<li class=\"l\"> A new subsystem for OpenGL support has been included. By default, the GLX library libglvnd (OpenGL Vendor-Neutral Driver) is enabled, which acts as a software dispatcher redirecting commands from 3D applications to specific OpenGL implementations, allowing Mesa and NVIDIA drivers to coexist. A new ebuild 'nvidia-drivers' has been added featuring NVIDIA drivers, which differs from the ebuild in Gentoo Linux and utilizes nvidia-kernel-modules for kernel module installation. The Mesa package has been updated to version 19.1.4, for which the provided ebuild includes support for the Vulkan API.\n<li class=\"l\"> Tools for managing isolated containers have been updated to<br \/>\n    LXC 3.0.4 and LXD 3.14. Ebuilds for GPU access from Docker and LXD containers have been added, allowing OpenGL to be used in containers;<\/p>\n<li class=\"l\"> Python has been updated to version 3.7.3 (with Python 2.7.15 also available as an alternative). Releases of Ruby 2.6, Perl 5.28, Go 1.12.6, and JDK 1.8.0.202 have been updated.
