Microsoft released an update about a month ago released<\/a><\/noindex> for Windows 10 Build 18970 for insiders. The main feature of this build is the ability to install the operating system from the cloud. The Cloud Download feature, as noted, allows you to download a fresh image directly from the server to the Windows Update Center, after which it can be installed without the hassle of flash drives and disks. Back then, it was implemented through a recovery partition or \"emergency\" DVD that had to be created during installation. However, cloud download is undoubtedly more convenient.<\/p>\n

To use this feature, you need to go to Settings \u2192 Update & Security \u2192 Recovery, after which the system will start downloading the image from the internet. It is important to note that a clean reinstall option (with the removal of user files and applications) is supported, as well as recovery.<\/p>\n

Additionally, this feature is available in the recovery environment, so if the system does not boot, it can be \"rolled back\" this way as well. Currently, this capability is only available in the \"insider\" builds, with a release expected no earlier than next spring when 20H1 is launched.<\/p>\n

It is worth noting that a similar feature has long existed in macOS. This allows the system to be as user-friendly as possible and speeds up the recovery process of a malfunctioning \"operating system.\" However, the download speed depends on the bandwidth of the connection and the load on the company's servers. Additionally, downloading the image may turn out to be an expensive pleasure on limited channels.<\/p>\n
