Automatic signatures in emails are arguably one of the most commonly used business features. A customizable signature set once can not only permanently increase employee efficiency and boost sales but, in some cases, enhance the company's information security and even avoid legal disputes. For instance, charitable organizations often include information about various ways to make donations in their automatic signatures, which helps to continuously increase the amounts collected. Additionally, an email signature is an excellent way to promote a corporate blog or website. It can also contain various privacy warnings, and commercial banks, for example, often remind customers that they never ask for their account information via email. Zimbra OSE makes it easy to create automatic signatures for emails, and now we will explore how this can be done and what can be achieved with automatic email signatures.<\/p>\n

\"Zimbra<\/a><\/noindex><\/p>\n

Zimbra Open-Source Edition supports the ability to create different signatures for different domains<\/a>. This is very convenient for SaaS providers, who can host hundreds or even thousands of different domains on a single Zimbra OSE infrastructure. However, to create signatures for domains, the administrator must first ensure that support for global email signatures is enabled in Zimbra OSE. This is done using the command\u00a0zmprov mcf zimbraDomainMandatoryMailSignatureEnabled TRUE<\/b>. Once this is set, we can proceed to configure signatures for domains. For example, let's create a simple text signature for the domain Company.ru<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Recording the signature text in LDAP is done using the commands zimbraAmavisDomainDisclaimerText<\/b> and\u00a0zimbraAmavisDomainDisclaimerHTML<\/b>. With these commands, you can add text and HTML signatures to emails, respectively. For example, using the command\u00a0zmprov md Company.ru zimbraAmavisDomainDisclaimerText \"Under no circumstances should you print this message on paper to save as many trees as possible and show your care for the environment.\"<\/b> We will create a simple text signature that is concise and memorable, while also reminding us of the importance of environmental issues for the company. If the signature is created in HTML format, the administrator has the option to add various embellishments and formatting to the signature text.<\/p>\n

Once the signature is added to LDAP, you can activate it by making changes in the MTA settings. If you have a single MTA server, you will need to execute the command\u00a0.\\\/libexec\\\/zmaltermimeconfig -e Company.ru<\/b>. If you have multiple MTA servers in your Zimbra OSE infrastructure, you will need to enter the command on the first one servers<\/a> , and on the other servers, you can just enter the command\u00a0.\\\/libexec\\\/zmaltermimeconfig -e Company.ru<\/b>.\\\/libexec\\\/zmaltermimeconfig\u00a0. As in the previous case, this needs to be done on the MTA server, and if you have several in your infrastructure, the command should be entered on all the others<\/b>. Administrators of Zimbra OSE often face the task of disabling signatures in internal emails, meaning those sent between users of the same domain. This can be achieved by executing the command\u00a0. If you have multiple MTA servers in your Zimbra OSE infrastructure, you will need to enter the command on the first one<\/b>.<\/p>\n

zimbraAmavisOutboundDisclaimersOnly TRUE\u00a0. By default, this feature is disabled.<\/b>Thus, as we have seen, Zimbra OSE provides the administrator with a flexible and convenient toolset for creating and managing automatic email signatures.<\/p>\n
