Microsoft launched<\/a><\/noindex> our Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) service, which allows users to literally utilize Windows on an Azure virtual machine. The concept of a 'virtual desktop' essentially builds on the popular trend of streaming gaming and video services, where the client only needs a low-power terminal and an Internet connection.<\/p>\n

As noted, the project has been launched globally. When using Windows Virtual Desktop, the user's location will be tracked to ensure data processing occurs in the nearest data center.<\/p>\n

Initially, it was planned to launch in the USA first, followed by a gradual connection of other countries. However, it seems the situation has changed. As stated by Scott Manchester, the chief engineer of WVD, pre-orders for the beta version have been received from over 20,000 companies. Additionally, the Microsoft Teams service has received expanded support within WVD.<\/p>\n

It is noted that many companies are transferring their resources to the cloud in one way or another. This allows them to save on local specialists, as the system only needs to be configured once. Everything else falls on Microsoft\u2019s support team. On the other hand, the availability of WVD and other services is critically important since any disruption in the internet connection or cloud service automatically leaves users unable to work.<\/p>\n

It is noteworthy that the 'virtual desktop' enables the use of Windows 10 in a multi-session mode. Currently, WVD is the only option for such usage. Additionally, it is noted that enterprises can access Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows 7 Enterprise on WVD without incurring additional licensing costs (although they will need to pay for Azure usage) if they possess the appropriate license for Windows 10 Enterprise or Microsoft 365.<\/p>\n
