GitLab, the company behind the namesake collaboration development platform, has gone live<\/a><\/noindex> has introduced a new agreement concerning the use of its products. All users of commercial enterprise products (GitLab Enterprise Edition) and the GitLab.com cloud hosting are required to accept the new terms. Access to the web interface and the Web API will be blocked until the new terms are accepted. The change will take effect with the release of GitLab 12.4.<\/a><\/noindex>.<\/p>\n

A significant change in the terms is the mention of incorporating telemetry collection code on the pages of GitLab\u2019s cloud services and commercial products. It specifies that telemetry may be sent not only to GitLab\u2019s servers but also to third-party analytics services. Moreover, the use of proprietary JavaScript code for telemetry collection from third-party providers is explicitly allowed, including services such as Pendo.<\/a><\/noindex>.<\/p>\n

The inclusion of telemetry does not affect the repository GitLab Core<\/a><\/noindex> and the feature-limited open Community edition of GitLab intended for deploying collaboration development infrastructure on private hardware.<\/p>\n
