Took place<\/a><\/noindex> release of a lightweight distribution MX Linux 19<\/a><\/noindex>, created as a result of collaboration among communities formed around projects antiX<\/a><\/noindex> and MEPIS<\/a><\/noindex>. The release is based on a Debian package base with enhancements from the antiX project and numerous custom applications that facilitate the configuration and installation of software. By default, the Xfce desktop is offered. For download<\/a><\/noindex> 32-bit and 64-bit builds are available, sized at 1.4 GB (x86_64<\/a><\/noindex>, i386<\/a><\/noindex>).<\/p>\n

In the new release, the package base has been updated to Debian 10 (buster) with some packages borrowed from the latest antiX and MX repositories. The desktop has been updated to Xfce 4.14. Application versions have been updated, including GIMP 2.10.12, Mesa 18.3.6, Linux kernel 4.19, VLC 3.0.8, Clementine 1.3.1, Thunderbird 60.9.0, LibreOffice 6.1.5 (LibreOffice 6.3 from backports is also available through mx-packageinstaller).<\/p>\n

In the mx-installer (based on gazelle-installer<\/a><\/noindex>) issues with automatic mounting and disk partitioning have been resolved. A new clock widget has been added, along with the formatusb application for formatting USB drives and the bash-config utility for configuring command line aesthetics. The mx-alerts package has been implemented to send urgent notifications to users.<\/p>\n

Desktop wallpapers have been updated (mx19-artwork). The mx-boot-repair tool now includes support for restoring the bootloader when using encrypted partitions. A text splash screen has been added to the Live build, along with a backup mode for starting the X server in case the graphical session cannot be activated.<\/p>\n
