Developers of the project Heptapod<\/a><\/noindex>, which is a fork of the open collaborative development platform GitLab Community Edition<\/a><\/noindex>, adapted for use with the Mercurial version control system, announced<\/a><\/noindex> about the launch of public hosting for Open Source projects (foss.heptapod.net<\/a><\/noindex>), utilizing Mercurial. The Heptapod code, like GitLab, is distributed<\/a><\/noindex> is under the MIT license and can be used to deploy similar code hosting on your own servers.<\/p>\n

The launched service allows for free hosting of any open and free projects that use OSI-approved licenses. There is, however, one condition \u2014 the logos of Heptapod sponsors (Clever Cloud and Octobus) must be displayed on the project's official web page (for example, on the developer's instruction page). After registration, a request should be made to create a repository in the section. issues<\/a><\/noindex>section. Due to the end of support for<\/a><\/noindex> Mercurial by Bitbucket hosting, priority will be given to requests from projects hosted on Bitbucket. <\/p>\n

Please note that starting February 1, 2020, creating new Mercurial repositories in Bitbucket will be prohibited, and on June 1, 2020, all Mercurial-related functionalities will be disabled, including the removal of Mercurial-specific APIs, as well as the deletion of all Mercurial repositories. Besides Heptapod, Mercurial support is also provided by services SourceForge<\/a><\/noindex>, Mozdev<\/a><\/noindex> and Savannah<\/a><\/noindex>.<\/p>\n
