Microsoft is testing a new feature for its Edge browser that will automatically block the download of unwanted and potentially dangerous applications. This blocking feature is already available in the beta versions of the Microsoft Edge browser, indicating its imminent release in stable versions.<\/p>\n

According to available data, Edge will block applications that are not necessarily considered harmful or malware. The list of unwanted applications includes products that add hidden cryptocurrency miners, toolbars that display a large amount of advertising content, and others. The new Edge browser already utilizes the SmartScreen tool, designed to protect against phishing and malicious applications; however, the new feature will help avoid downloading potentially harmful software.<\/p>\n

Although the discussed blocking feature is not yet available to the general public, it is known that it will be disabled by default. Users will have to activate this tool themselves in the settings menu.
