However, this time I will address the pressing topic of salaries, as well as current job openings in well-known and emerging technology companies in Armenia. This brief guide may help developers and programmers at the junior, middle, senior, and team lead levels prioritize their choices for professional opportunities in different countries. <\/p>\n<p>First and foremost, I want to draw your attention, dear readers, to the relatively low cost of living in the country coupled with relatively high salaries in the information technology sector. It can confidently be said that these salaries do not conform to the general labor market rules in Armenia; their level is significantly higher than the average income in the country. Yes, I will not argue that Armenian salaries are comparable to rewards, for example, in Germany or the USA, but the living costs here are also completely different. Let's investigate. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Salary analysis in the IT sector of Armenia plus open vacancies in the TOP 10 IT companies\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/f5d736e188d988f4fd6cb1d70c1445a9.jpeg\" style=\"display:block;margin: 0 auto;\" \/><br \/>\n <br \/>\n<noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" name=\"habracut\"><\/a><\/noindex><\/p>\n<h3>Average salary level of IT specialists in Armenia<\/h3>\n<p>\nThe salaries of developers in Armenia, Belarus, and Russia are comparable and not very far apart in terms of indicators. The fact is that companies in Armenia do not disclose information about salaries, the figures we use in the article are based solely on data provided by the largest recruitment agency in Armenia, Meettal.<\/p>\n<p>It may seem that the numbers are not particularly impressive, especially for junior employees, but there is an important feature and even, one might say, an advantage of Armenia over other countries \u2013 living here is much cheaper, which allows mid-level specialists and Team Leads to earn quite well.<\/p>\n<p>If we consider the 'net' income, Armenian IT specialists, on average, take home:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>junior employee \u2013 580 USD;<\/li>\n<li>middle \u2013 1528 USD;<\/li>\n<li>senior \u2013 3061 USD;<\/li>\n<li>team lead \u2013 3470 USD. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\nHere, I want to focus on how significant this income is for IT professionals in Armenia. The average monthly expenses for a resident of the capital, Yerevan, are about 793 USD. This figure includes not only daily expenses and housing rent but also various entertainment options, vacation costs, and more. Considering that there are areas in Yerevan with fairly comfortable housing at low rental prices (I elaborated on this in <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/habr.com\/ru\/post\/474186\/\">the previous article about Armenia<\/a><\/noindex>), IT professionals here can save substantial amounts of money. Of course, much depends on the individual and their financial management skills, right? <\/p>\n<h3>How does Armenia differ from other countries regarding salaries in the IT sector? <\/h3>\n<p>\nSalaries here are always discussed with regard to remote work compensation and are a priority topic during interviews with candidates. Some companies in the country benefit from tax incentives, such as startups. The payroll tax varies from 10% to 30%. Regarding other nuances of Armenian employers in the IT field:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>it's not common to discuss annual salaries the way it is done in the US or Europe;<\/li>\n<li>salaries are not public information\u2014only a few companies mention expected salaries on job boards or their websites;<\/li>\n<li>the gap between junior and senior salaries is vast compared to the gap in the US or Europe\u2014the average salary of a junior employee is 6 times lower than that of a senior;<\/li>\n<li>the technology sector in Armenia is a relatively small labor market. The percentage of developers among the working population is quite high, but there is still a noticeable shortage of specialists to meet the sector's demands. This is why, in some cases, companies focus more on a specific engineer and their skills and how they can be applied within the company, rather than an open position or the internal level of the company;<\/li>\n<li>all salaries are announced in advance;<\/li>\n<li>is paid in cash, not in stocks and options. HOWEVER, there are companies that have similar advantages \u2013 Krisp, a startup focused on noise reduction, Vineti, which operates in healthcare, and the largest virtualization software provider VMware.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\nAnother factor in Armenia that does not directly affect salaries but significantly contributes to the low cost of living is that Yerevan is a small city, and the office location is rarely discussed with potential candidates. For example, in Moscow, Russia, this information is usually mentioned in job postings. Here, the main difference between developers, for example, in Germany and other countries is clearly presented \u2013 German Junior and Middle developers earn not much less than Senior specialists and team leaders, which is not the case in Belarus, Ukraine, and Russia. The situation in Armenia is the same \u2013 only with experience and career advancement can one significantly increase their income. <\/p>\n<p>It is extremely important to look at the numbers in the context of the specific country and the cost of living in the city. I gathered information on the average monthly expenses of an IT specialist living in the capital (data provided by Numbeo):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Armenia \u2013 793 USD;<\/li>\n<li>Belarus \u2013 848 USD;<\/li>\n<li>Ukraine \u2013 1031 USD;<\/li>\n<li>Russia \u2013 1524 USD;<\/li>\n<li>Germany \u2013 1825 USD.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\nBased on this, we can see a turning point when a specialist can afford a comfortable lifestyle, and even after paying all taxes and expenses, he\/she still saves nearly half of their salary.<\/p>\n<p>In Armenia, Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine, there is a common trend \u2013 with each additional year of experience, developers' salaries significantly increase. In contrast, in Germany, the gap between junior and senior salaries is not as pronounced. Even the junior salaries in Germany cover all basic needs, including rent.<\/p>\n<p>Another interesting indicator is the amount that is not accounted for in the after-tax salaries of senior developers and covers basic needs. The shortage of specialists leads to constant salary increases, which can be considered one of the methods to attract and retain talent not only within Armenia but also beyond its borders. <\/p>\n<p>Next, as promised, let's look at the TOP 10 companies in Armenia with open positions for IT specialists and those without. <\/p>\n<h3>Guide to Armenia's Tech Sector for IT Professionals <\/h3>\n<p>\n<b>1. 2HZ<\/b> \u2013 the company that founded the most well-known Armenian startup in the world <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/krisp.ai\/\">Krisp<\/a><\/noindex>, an application designed to remove background noise in conference calls. The company's activity is focused on combining artificial intelligence technologies with speech enhancement products, audio, and video. Interestingly, developers have succeeded in ensuring that Krisp software processes incoming and outgoing sounds and recognizes human voices. I will describe the creation of this startup and its special achievements in more detail later. <\/p>\n<p>Open positions: currently none, the team is fully staffed. <\/p>\n<p><b>2. 10Web<\/b> \u2013 a complete WordPress management platform with a comprehensive set of tools: from cloud hosting to page builders. <\/p>\n<p>The software allows for easy design, development, and launch of websites, as well as management, optimization, and maintenance of existing sites. <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/10web.io\/\">10Web<\/a><\/noindex> supports tens of thousands of clients - from small businesses to global enterprises.
