The platform is evolving in <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/webosose\/\">the public repository<\/a><\/noindex> under the Apache 2.0 license, with development overseen by the community, adhering to <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/webosose.org\/discover\/getting-started\/governance-model\/\">a collaborative development management model<\/a><\/noindex>. The Raspberry Pi 4 boards are considered the reference hardware platform.<\/p>\n<p>The webOS platform was <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=36223\">acquired<\/a><\/noindex> by LG from Hewlett-Packard in 2013 and is used in over 70 million LG televisions and consumer devices. Key components of webOS include the System and Application Manager (SAM) responsible for running applications and services, and the Luna Surface Manager (LSM) that shapes the user interface. The components are written using the Qt framework and the Chromium browser engine.<\/p>\n<p>Rendering is performed through a compositing manager that uses the Wayland protocol. For the development of user applications, it is suggested to use web technologies (CSS, HTML5, and JavaScript) and the <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/enactjs.com\/\">Enact<\/a><\/noindex>framework based on React, though it is also possible to create programs in C and C++ with a Qt-based interface. The user shell and built-in graphical applications are mainly implemented as native programs written using QML technology. <\/p>\n<p>For storing data in a structured form using the JSON format, the storage  <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/webosose\/db8\">DB8<\/a><\/noindex>, which uses LevelDB as its backend, is utilized.<br \/>\nInitialization is done using <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/webosose\/webos-initscripts\">bootd<\/a><\/noindex> based on systemd. For handling multimedia content, the uMediaServer and Media Display Controller (MDC) subsystems are provided, with PulseAudio serving as the sound server.<\/p>\n<p><noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.webosose.org\/blog\/2019\/10\/29\/webos-ose-2-0-0-release\/\">Features<\/a><\/noindex> <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.webosose.org\/about\/overview\/webos-ose-2-0-overview\/\">webOS Open Source Edition 2<\/a><\/noindex>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> A new reference user interface has been proposed \u2014 Home Launcher, optimized for touchscreen management and offering an enhanced concept of rotating cards (instead of windows). For example, it supports operation in environments with dual screens, commonly used in passenger multimedia systems;\n<li class=\"l\"> Tools for automatic firmware updates have been proposed (<noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.webosose.org\/docs\/guides\/setup\/setting-up-fota\/\">FOTA<\/a><\/noindex> \u2014 Firmware-Over-the-Air), based on the application of <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/ostree.readthedocs.io\/en\/latest\/\">OSTree<\/a><\/noindex> and atomic system updates. The entire system image is rebuilt entirely, without being divided into separate packages. The update system is based on the use of two system partitions, one of which is active while the other is used for copying the update; after the update is installed, the partitions swap roles;\n<li class=\"l\"> The SoftAP (Tethering) mode has been added, allowing the creation of a wireless access point for connecting other devices to the network;\n<li class=\"l\"> Mandatory access control support based on the Smack kernel module (Simplified Mandatory Access Control Kernel) has been added;\n<li class=\"l\"> Bluetooth and WiFi support has been improved;\n<li class=\"l\"> The reference
