The installation size is <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/download.proxmox.com\/iso\/\">ISO image<\/a><\/noindex> 776 MB.<\/p>\n<p>Proxmox VE provides tools for deploying a fully functional industrial-grade virtual server system, managed through a web interface designed for handling hundreds or even thousands of virtual machines. The distribution includes built-in tools for organizing backups of virtual environments and offers out-of-the-box clustering support, including the ability to migrate virtual environments from one node to another without downtime. Features of the web interface include: support for secure VNC console; role-based access management to all available objects (VM, storage, nodes, etc.); and support for various authentication mechanisms (MS ADS, LDAP, Linux PAM, Proxmox VE authentication). <\/p>\n<p>In <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/pve.proxmox.com\/wiki\/Roadmap#Proxmox_VE_6.1\">new release<\/a><\/noindex>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> The package base is synchronized with Debian 10.2. The Linux kernel has been updated to version 5.3. Additionally, the Linux kernel 5.0 is supplied based on packages from Ubuntu 19.04 with ZFS support. Versions have been updated for<br \/>\nCeph Nautilus 14.2.4.1, Corosync 3.0, LXC 3.2, QEMU 4.1.1, and ZFS 0.8.2;<\/p>\n<li class=\"l\"> Changes in the web interface\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Through the graphical interface, it is now possible to edit more datacenter-level configuration parameters, including two-factor authentication settings and bandwidth limitations at the cluster level for the following types of traffic: migration, backup\/recovery, cloning, moving disks.\n<li class=\"l\"> Improvements in two-factor authentication allowing the use of a TOTP hardware key.\n<li class=\"l\"> Mobile graphical interface: login for user accounts with support for TOTP two-factor authentication has been implemented.\n<li class=\"l\"> Continued work on converting icons from raster to vector formats from Font Awesome.\n<li class=\"l\"> The noVNC scaling mode can now be changed in the 'My Settings' section.\n<li class=\"l\"> New 'Run Now' button to start backup jobs for the entire cluster.\n<li class=\"l\"> With ifupdown2 installed, network configuration can now be modified and updated through the graphical interface without rebooting.\n<\/ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Changes for containers\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Pending changes for containers have been implemented. Changes can be made for a running container, and they will be applied after the next container reboot.\n<li class=\"l\"> Rebooting a running container through the GUI, API, and command line interface (CLI).\n<li class=\"l\"> Hot plugging of mount points using the new mounting API available in Linux kernel 5.3.\n<li class=\"l\"> Support for the latest releases of GNU\/Linux distributions such as Fedora 31, CentOS 8, and Ubuntu 19.10.\n<\/ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Changes in SPICE\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Audio devices can now be added through the graphical interface (no need to edit the configuration file).\n<li class=\"l\"> Directories can now be separated between the SPICE client and the virtual machine (this feature is still considered experimental).\n<li class=\"l\"> Support for streaming video can be enabled, which helps improve performance when outputting rapidly changing display areas, such as when watching videos.\n<li class=\"l\"> The SPICE USB device now supports USB3 (QEMU &gt;= 4.1).\n<\/ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Improvements in backup and restore features.\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Virtual machines with IOThreads enabled in the settings can now be reserved.\n<li class=\"l\"> Manual initiation of scheduled backup tasks from the data center in the graphical interface is possible.\n<\/ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Enhancements in the HA stack.\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> New 'migrate' shutdown policy. If enabled during shutdown, running services will be transferred to another node. Once the node is back online, if the services weren't manually moved to another node during that time, they will be moved back.\n<li class=\"l\"> New 'crm-command stop' command. It shuts down a virtual machine\/container with a specified timeout and performs a hard stop if the timeout is set to '0'. The stop command for the virtual machine or container will now trigger this new crm-command.\n<\/ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> QEMU improvements.\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Domains other than '0000' are allowed for PCI(e) passthrough.\n<li class=\"l\"> New API call 'reboot'. It allows applying pending changes without waiting for the guest to shut down before starting it again.\n<li class=\"l\"> Fixed a QEMU monitor timeout issue that prevented successful backups in certain configurations.\n<li class=\"l\"> PCI(e) passthrough supports up to 16 PCI(e) devices.\n<li class=\"l\"> Support for QEMU Guest Agents that communicate via the ISA serial port (not VirtIO), which will allow the use of QEMU Guest Agents in FreeBSD, among other things.\n<\/ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> General improvements for virtual guest systems.\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Guest system configuration now includes 'tags'. This metadata can be useful for tasks like configuration management (not supported in the GUI yet).\n<li class=\"l\"> VM\/CT: 'Purge' has learned to remove the corresponding virtual machine or container from replication or backup tasks upon destruction.\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Cluster stability.\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> A number of bugs have been identified and fixed upstream (in collaboration with corosync and kronosnet).\n<li class=\"l\"> Fixed issues that some users encountered when changing the MTU.\n<li class=\"l\"> pmxcfs underwent an audit using ASAN (AddressSanitizer) and UBSAN (Undefined Behavior Sanitizer), resulting in various potential issues being resolved for specific edge cases.\n<\/ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Storage system\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Custom properties 'mount point' setup is allowed for ZFS.\n<li class=\"l\"> The use of .img files as an alternative to .iso images is now permitted.\n<li class=\"l\"> Various iSCSI improvements.\n<li class=\"l\"> ZFS support over iSCSI has been revamped with the LIO target provider.\n<li class=\"l\"> Support for all features offered by newer kernels with Ceph and KRBD has been ensured.\n<\/ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Various enhancements\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> The firewall now includes support for raw tables and uses them to protect against Synflood attacks.\n<li class=\"l\"> Automatic renewal of self-signed certificates has been implemented two weeks prior to expiration.\n<li class=\"l\"> The validity period of newly generated certificates has been shortened (2 years instead of 10 years). This change was made as some modern browsers complain about very long certificate validity periods.\n<\/ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> The documentation has been proofread (style and grammar).
