The<\/a><\/noindex> merger of the codebases for the D9VK and DXVK projects has occurred. Developments D9VK<\/a><\/noindex> have been carried over<\/a><\/noindex> are now in the master branch of the repository. DXVK<\/a><\/noindex>D9VK is considered by the developer to be ready for use and implements nearly all intended functionalities. Thus, all implementations of DXGI (DirectX Graphics Infrastructure), Direct3D 11, Direct3D 10, and Direct3D 9 over the Vulkan graphics API will henceforth be developed within a unified codebase. There is currently no information about the timeline for the next significant release of DXVK, which will include support for Direct3D 9.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, after the integration of D9VK and the addition of support for some useful Vulkan extensions, the DXVK developer intends<\/a><\/noindex> to temporarily focus efforts solely on bug fixing, slowing down the expansion of functionalities. This desire stems is driven<\/a><\/noindex> from concerns about the quality of the codebase. Each update to the 1.4.x branch has led to complaints about regressions that cannot be reproduced, localized, or resolved. These issues require a thorough investigation of their causes; otherwise, leaving them unresolved while continuing to expand functionalities may only exacerbate the situation and complicate maintenance.<\/p>\n

The development of D9VK will continue within the DXVK repository in the form of a frontend, which will be managed by the original D9VK developer. Future development plans include resolving some known issues (bump mapping, premodulation), implementing a software cursor (in addition to the already available hardware cursor support), adding the method ComposeRects<\/a><\/noindex>, defined in the D3D9Ex specification, and the ability to define custom colors for borders.<\/p>\n
