In the source texts of the Linux kernel has been present<\/a><\/noindex> about 4 thousand comments describing the required fixes for unfinished tasks, plans, and postponed tasks identified by the presence of the expression \"TODO\" in the text. Most comments with \"TODO\" are present in the driver code (2380<\/a><\/noindex>). In the crypto subsystem, there are such comments \u2014 23<\/a><\/noindex>, specific to the x86 architecture code \u2014 43<\/a><\/noindex>, ARM \u2014 73<\/a><\/noindex>, code for other architectures \u2014 114<\/a><\/noindex>, in the code for block devices, file systems, and the networking subsystem \u2014 606<\/a><\/noindex>.<\/p>\n

The term FIXME, which typically identifies code that needs improvement or raises doubts, appears in comments
\n1860<\/a><\/noindex> times. Interestingly, in kernel version 4.2 there was noted<\/a><\/noindex> a significant surge in TODO comments, which increased by about 1,000 (likely due to the integration<\/a><\/noindex> of the AMDGPU driver into the kernel, which includes about 400,000 lines of code).
\nThe number of comments containing the word \"workaround\" continues to grow from version to version, but there is a decrease in comments \"fixme\" and \"hack\".<\/p>\n
