On December 30, 2019, the Trinity Desktop Environment project, a fork of the KDE 3.5 branch, was released. The project continues to evolve the paradigm of traditional desktop environments based on Qt. The project also supports the (T)Qt3 library, as Qt is no longer officially maintained by the developer. The environment can be installed and used alongside new versions of KDE.<\/p>\n

Added the ability to build TDE with the LibreSSL library instead of OpenSSL (allowing TDE to be built on distributions like Void Linux)\n<\/li>\n

Continued migration of the build process from Autotools to CMake.\n<\/li>\n
Code cleanup has been performed, removing outdated files and dropping the ability to build some packages using Autotools.\n<\/li>\n
As part of the release, cleanup of invalid links to web pages has been carried out.\n<\/li>\n
Minor UI and overall TDE branding polish has been completed. The rebranding to TDE and TQt continues.\n<\/li>\n
Fixes have been made to address vulnerabilities CVE-2019-14744 and CVE-2018-19872 (based on the corresponding patch in Qt5). The first allows for code execution from .desktop files. The second leads to a crash in tqimage when processing incorrectly formatted images in PPM format.\n<\/li>\n
Support for FreeBSD continues, along with improvements for initial support for NetBSD.\n<\/li>\n
Added support for DilOS.\n<\/li>\n
Localization and translations have been updated.\n<\/li>\n
Support for new versions of libpqxx\n<\/li>\n
Improved detection of the installed version of the Ruby programming language\n<\/li>\n
The support for AIM and MSN protocols in the Kopete messenger has been restored to working condition.\n<\/li>\n
Bugs affecting SAK (Secure Attention Key \u2014 an additional layer of security requiring the user to press C-A-Del, for example, before logging in) have been fixed.\n<\/li>\n
Bugs in TDevelop have been fixed.\n<\/li>\n
Improved TLS support in modern distributions\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Packages are prepared for Debian and Ubuntu. Packages for RedHat\/CentOS, Fedora, Mageia, OpenSUSE, and PCLinuxOS will be available soon. SlackBuilds for Slackware are also available in the Git repository.<\/p>\n
