General euphoria regarding blockchain is starting to fade, writes Kommersant, citing experts. As a result, investment plans for the implementation of this technology in Russia have become significantly more modest.<\/p>\n

According to the \"roadmap\" project of Rostec, submitted for coordination to the Ministry of Digital Development and the Analytical Center under the government, about 28.4 billion rubles will be allocated for the development of blockchain technologies in Russia by 2024, including 9.5 billion from the budget and 18.9 billion from non-budget sources. It is expected that domestic blockchain technologies will save the country's economy 500 billion rubles and generate up to 600 billion rubles in taxes.<\/p>\n

In particular, 650 million rubles are planned to be allocated for the implementation of domestic blockchain technologies in the product labeling system, 1.17 billion rubles in the healthcare sector, and 475 million rubles in housing and utilities.<\/p>\n

In an earlier version of the Rostec roadmap, more significant investments from Russia in blockchain were anticipated, with a correspondingly more noticeable economic effect. It was previously planned to spend 55 to 85 billion rubles on the implementation of the new technology, expecting to achieve a direct economic effect of 782.1 billion rubles by 2024, while the indirect effect was projected to be 853 billion rubles.<\/p>\n

According to a representative of Rostec, the reduction in the forecast of economic effect is partly related to changes in the macroeconomic situation.<\/p>\n

After the general euphoria surrounding blockchain, it became clear that the technology is imperfect and requires further development, stated lawyer Mikhail Zhuzhalov from Deloitte Legal in the CIS.<\/p>\n

According to Nikolai Komlev, director of the Association of Computer and Information Technology Enterprises, the fact that the system is being developed by Rostec means that all nodes will remain under the control of a single entity. This negates the purpose of distributed collective data protection. He also mentioned that the range of tasks for which the use of this technology would be beneficial and justified is quite narrow.<\/p>\n
