Mozilla continues to actively combat potentially dangerous extensions for the Firefox browser, which are created by third-party developers and published in the official store. According to available data, Mozilla has removed about 200 potentially dangerous extensions in the last month alone, most of which were created by a single developer.<\/p>\n

The message states that Mozilla removed 129 extensions created by the company 2Ring, whose main focus is on developing software for businesses. No evidence was presented to suggest that the extensions from 2Ring are malicious. However, it was found that they execute code hosted remotely, which is against Mozilla's policy. server<\/a>, and this is prohibited by Mozilla's policies. The company noted that the ban does not apply to current installations, meaning users who wish to install the 2Ring extensions can do so manually.      <\/p>\n

Representatives from 2Ring contacted Mozilla to work out a joint solution to this issue. The company emphasizes that their extensions, used by businesses to integrate CRM systems with applications installed in customer contact centers, only interact with user programs that are included in the extension configurations.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Mozilla removed another 6 extensions from other developers for similar reasons. One more extension was caught loading remote content in a new browser tab, which is also prohibited by the company's policy. Several extensions were blocked due to collecting user data and could intercept requests sent to third-party search providers. Moreover, several extensions were blocked for using obfuscated code that could be used for covert malicious actions.<\/p>\n
