Developer of the Waterfox web browser reported<\/a><\/noindex> about the transfer of the project to the company System1<\/a><\/noindex>, which specializes in attracting audiences to clients' websites. System1 will finance further development of the browser and will help transition Waterfox from a one-enthusiast project to a product developed by a team of developers that aims to be a full-fledged alternative to major browsers. The original author of Waterfox will continue working on the project, but as an employee of System1.<\/p>\n

Recall that Waterfox<\/a><\/noindex> is a modification of Firefox focused on preserving user privacy, restoring familiar features, and eliminating imposed innovations such as integration with Pocket. In Waterfox, support for the Encrypted Media Extensions (DRM for Web) API is also disabled, along with advertising recommendations on the startup page and telemetry transmission.
