Available<\/a><\/noindex> Package release Rakudo Star 2020.01<\/a><\/noindex>, including the compiler Rakudo<\/a><\/noindex>, the virtual machine MoarVM<\/a><\/noindex>, documentation, modules, and tools necessary for development in the Raku language (the new name for Perl 6 after renaming<\/a><\/noindex>). The compiler adheres to the Raku v6.d specification, except for support of extended macros, non-blocking I\/O, and a number of minor features that are planned to be brought to a functional state in future releases. The virtual machine for executing the bytecode is provided by MoarVM<\/a><\/noindex>, which passes all tests (the alternative JVM-based backend currently lacks full functionality). <\/p>\n

The new version includes a new executable file raku, which has replaced perl6, as well as new options where the name perl has been replaced with raku. Significant performance optimizations have been made for string processing operations (for example, Str.chomp is now 10 to 100 times faster, Str.substr is 1.5 to 3 times faster, and Str.trim* is 1.5 to 90 times faster).
