Initially, support for the LTS branch of Debian 8 was planned to cease in July 2020, but Freexian has expressed its willingness to release vulnerability-fixing updates for the packages under the extended support program.<noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/wiki.debian.org\/LTS\/Extended\">Extended LTS<\/a><\/noindex>&#171;.<\/p>\n<p>Additional support will cover a limited set of packages and will be available only for amd64 and i386 architectures (possibly also armel). Support will not cover packages such as Linux kernel 3.16 (kernel 4.9 will be offered, backported from Debian 9), openjdk-7 (openjdk-8 will be offered), and tomcat7 (support will continue until March 2021). Updates will be distributed through an external <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/deb.freexian.com\/extended-lts\/\">repository<\/a><\/noindex>, supported by Freexian.
