GitHub announced<\/a><\/noindex> regarding the removal of restrictions on private repositories and the transition of this functionality to be completely free. Any GitHub user can now create private repositories for free with an unlimited number of collaborators. Previously, GitHub allowed free connection of no more than three developers to private repositories intended for the development of non-public or non-disclosable projects, which are only accessible to a narrow circle of developers. The number of private repositories that can be created is unlimited.<\/p>\n

The removal of the user limit allows teams of any projects to use GitHub as a single place to solve all basic development tasks, including continuous integration, project management, code review, package creation, etc. In the competing platform BitBucket.org, the number of private repositories is also unlimited<\/a><\/noindex>, but the free plan allows no more than 5 participants to connect. <\/p>\n

GitHub funding will continue through the provision of extended paid services<\/a><\/noindex> for enterprises, such as using SAML, mandatory review mode, removal of the limit of 2000 automated processors<\/a><\/noindex>, large package storage (500MB is provided for free), separation<\/a><\/noindex> of code access at the individual participant level, enhanced auditing tools, and personalized technical support. It was also announced that the subscription cost for the Team plan would decrease from $9 to $4 per user per month.<\/p>\n
