Updates for Python 2 will no longer be generated, and all users are recommended to switch to Python 3. The Python 2.7 branch has been formed<\/a><\/noindex> created in 2010 and its support was initially planned to end in 2015, but due to insufficiently active<\/a><\/noindex> migrating projects to Python 3 and issues, arising<\/a><\/noindex> during code refactoring, the lifespan of Python 2 was extended<\/a><\/noindex> until 2020.<\/p>\n

Although the official CPython project will no longer support Python 2, work on fixing vulnerabilities in Python 2.7 will continue by community members interested in maintaining support for this branch in their products. For example, Red Hat will continue<\/a><\/noindex> to support packages with Python 2.7 throughout the lifecycle<\/a><\/noindex> will provide updates for RHEL 6 and 7 distributions, and for RHEL 8, it will generate package updates in Application Stream until June 2024. <\/p>\n
