Quietly and unnoticed, on April 20, 2020, the developers announced the release. Python 2.7.18<\/strong> \u2014 the latest version<\/strong> Python from the branch Python 2<\/strong>, official support for which has now officially ended.<\/p>\n

Python<\/strong> \u2014 a high-level general-purpose programming language aimed at increasing developer productivity and code readability. The core syntax of Python is minimalist. At the same time, the standard library includes a large volume of useful functions.<\/p>\n

Python supports structured, object-oriented, functional, imperative, and aspect-oriented programming. Key architectural features include dynamic typing, automatic memory management, full introspection, exception handling mechanisms, support for multi-threaded computations, and high-level data structures. Programs can be broken down into modules, which can in turn be combined into packages.<\/p>\n

All users are encouraged to switch to the third branch of the language \u2014 Python 3.<\/p>\n

It is also worth noting that to maintain the stability of existing projects, the community will take care of fixing vulnerabilities in Python 2.7. For example, Red Hat will support packages with Python 2.7 for RHEL 6 and 7 distributions, while for version 8 of the distribution, package updates will be provided in Application Stream until June 2024.<\/p>\n
