Google Inc. warned<\/a><\/noindex> about tightening the rules for submitting extensions in the Chrome Web Store to combat<\/a><\/noindex> spam. By August 27, developers must bring their extensions into compliance with new requirements<\/a><\/noindex>, otherwise they will be removed from the store. It is noted that the store, which has over 200,000 extensions, has attracted the attention of spammers and scammers who have begun to publish low-quality and misleading extensions that do not perform useful actions, foisted upon users, and focused solely on driving attention to certain services or products. <\/p>\n

To combat manipulations that hinder assessing the essence of an extension, such as camouflaging under well-known extensions, providing false information about functionality, creating fake reviews, and inflating ratings, the following changes are being introduced in the Chrome Web Store:<\/p>\n
