In announcement<\/a><\/noindex> of the preliminary version of the Linux kernel 5.7-rc7. After a general review of the fixes, Linus Torvalds stated that the most significant improvement for him this week was the update to his main workstation. For the first time in 15 years, his system features a processor not from Intel. The new configuration includes a CPU AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3970x<\/a><\/noindex> with 32 cores (64 threads) and a total integrated cache size of 146MB (2MB L1 + 16MB L2 + 128MB L3). For comparison, Intel workstation processors offer up to 18 CPU cores.
