The California-based company Qualcomm is not standing still and aims not only to strengthen its leadership in the 5G market but also to cover new frequency ranges. Today, Qualcomm introduced two new system-on-chip solutions, FastConnect 6900 and 6700, which are set to raise the bar for the next generation of mobile devices in terms of increased Wi-Fi and Bluetooth speeds.<\/p>\n

As the manufacturer assures, the Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 and 6700 chips were designed from the ground up and are intended for use in sixth-generation Wi-Fi networks (Wi-Fi 6E) in the new 6 GHz frequency range, enabling data transfer speeds of up to 3.6 Gbps (in FastConnect 6900) or 3 Gbps (in FastConnect 6700). Solutions based on FastConnect 6900 will be used in premium devices, while 6700 will be in the mid-range of smartphones.<\/p>\n

Enhanced features are the result of a whole array of new key capabilities. The advanced Qualcomm 4K QAM modulation method sends more data across a specified Wi-Fi frequency spectrum, unlike the existing 1K QAM. The four-stream (2\u00d72 + 2\u00d72) Dual Band Simultaneous (DBS) technology, now available at 6 GHz, provides numerous possibilities for using multiple antennas and bands for transmitting or receiving information. Support for 160 MHz dual-band channels allows for up to seven additional non-overlapping channels in the 6 GHz range, in addition to those already available in the 5 GHz range.<\/p>\n

Qualcomm's latest creations also feature low latency for VR-class devices: the use of Wi-Fi 6 has reduced latency to less than 3 ms, providing a foundation for the growth of mobile gaming and XR applications.<\/p>\n

Support for the latest Bluetooth 5.2 standard and the presence of a dual Bluetooth antenna means enhanced reliability and range, according to Qualcomm. Additionally, the updated aptX Adaptive and aptX Voice codecs enable wireless music and voice transmission with bit rates of 96 and 32 kHz, respectively.<\/p>\n
