Good afternoon. The team volunteering to translate the GitLab product wants to reach out to the community of developers, testers, managers, and other specialists working with this product, as well as everyone who cares. It should be noted that this is not a new initiative; the Russian language has been available in GitLab for quite some time. However, recently the percentage of translation has been increasing and we would like to focus on quality. Users who always choose the original language in the software, we understand your opinion: \"do not translate\". Therefore, there has always been a free choice of language in GitLab.<\/p>\n

Often we encounter the issue that free translation into Russian is more often than not unwanted because the Russian versions of specialized terms are either translated too literally or presented in ways that are not commonly used. We would like the localized version of GitLab to be convenient, comfortable, and most importantly \u2014 clear. The problem also lies in the fact that there are disagreements within the team regarding the translation of certain terms, and naturally, each of our opinions does not reflect the majority's view.<\/p>\n

We would like you to participate in a survey that contains translation options for contentious terms, share your opinion, and leave your mark on the development of GitLab. The form also includes a free input field in case some term is not there, but you would like to draw attention to it.<\/p>\n
