Thus, similar to kernels 3.16, 4.9, 4.4, and 4.14, the branches 5.4 and 4.19 will be supported for 6 years. Initially, these kernels were planned to be supported for 2 years (until December 2020 and 2021). Support for Linux kernel 3.16, released in August 2014, ended in June 2020. Kernel 4.14 will be supported until January 2024, 4.9 until January 2023, and 4.4 until February 2022.
