Introduced<\/a><\/noindex> release of the dynamic tracing and application analysis platform Frida 12.10<\/a><\/noindex>, which can be seen as an analog of Greasemonkey for native applications, allowing control over the application's operation during execution just as Greasemonkey allows control over the processing of web pages. Program tracing is supported on platforms including Linux, Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, and QNX. The source codes for all project components is distributed<\/a><\/noindex> are under a free license wxWindows Library Licence<\/a><\/noindex> (a variant of LGPL that does not impose restrictions on the distribution terms of binary builds of derivative works).<\/p>\n

In terms of tasks being solved, Frida resembles DTrace in user space, but for writing scripts for tracing and processing application execution statistics, the JavaScript language is used. The handlers have full access to the process memory, can intercept calls to functions, and invoke functions implemented in the application from JavaScript code. The basic components of Frida are written in C and Vala. The V8 engine is used for processing JavaScript. There are bindings over the Frida API for Node.js, Python, Swift, .NET, Qt\/Qml, and C. <\/p>\n

The new release significantly expands the debugging, tracing, and reverse engineering capabilities of Java programs \u2014 in the module frida-java-bridge<\/a><\/noindex> support for HotSpot JVM has been added, allowing this layer to be used not only for Android but also for regular Java programs utilizing JDK. The frida-trace utility now includes Java method tracing. A new API, Java.enumerateMethods(query), has been proposed for determining the execution of Java methods that match specific criteria. Method interception requests are specified in the form 'class!method'. Among non-Java-related changes, improvements to support for 32-bit ARM systems in the tracing engine are noted. Stalker<\/a><\/noindex> and the implementation of adaptive optimization, which has allowed Stalker to execute up to five times faster.<\/p>\n
