The code and distribution conditions will remain the same, and the office suite will still be available for free and without exception to everyone, including corporate users.<\/p>\n

The addition of the \u2018Personal Edition\u2019 label aims to simplify the promotion of additional commercial editions that may be offered by third-party providers. The essence of the initiative is to distinguish the current free, community-supported LibreOffice from the products based on it for enterprises and additional services offered by third parties. Ultimately, the plan is to create an ecosystem of providers offering commercial support services and LTS releases for companies in need of such services. Commercial products will be supplied under the \u2018LibreOffice Enterprise\u2019 lineup and offered on the separate sites libreoffice.biz and libreoffice-ecosystem.biz. <\/p>\n

The proposal to use the \u2018Personal Edition\u2019 label has been preliminarily agreed upon by the governing board<\/a><\/noindex> during discussions on the project's development strategy<\/a><\/noindex> for the next five years. This label was added to the recently released LibreOffice 7.0 release candidate and has caused confusion in the community. To dispel any speculation, the governing board issued a statement assuring that LibreOffice will always remain a free product with open source code, unchanged licensing, and the ability to use all available features. The branding changes are solely related to the marketing promotion of the project.
