Company Kitware<\/a><\/noindex>, specializing in medical data visualization and computer vision, and also known for developing the CMake build system, introduced<\/a><\/noindex> the fast and compact 3D model viewer F3D 1.0, developed according to the principle KISS<\/a><\/noindex> (to simplify, without complications). The program is written in C++, using the visualization library VTK<\/a><\/noindex>, also developed by Kitware, and is distributed<\/a><\/noindex> under the BSD license. It can be built for Windows, Linux, and macOS platforms.<\/p>\n

Management of display and navigation through the resources provided in the file is done via command line options or hotkeys. Support is available for viewing 3D models in formats such as VTK, STL (Standard Triangle Language), PLY (Polygon File format), GML (CityGML), DCM (DICOM), EX2 (Exodus 2), PTS (Point Cloud), OBJ (Wavefront), GLTF\/GLB (GL), 3DS (Autodesk 3DS Max), and VRL (VRML). For formats gltf\/glb, 3ds, wrl, and obj that include information about the scene (light sources, cameras, textures, characters), the scene defined in the file is displayed, while for formats containing only geometry information, a default scene is generated.
