WebRender is written in Rust and allows for significant increases in rendering speed and reduced CPU load by offloading rendering operations of page content to the GPU, which are implemented through shaders run on the GPU. Previously, WebRender was enabled on Windows 10 for Intel GPUs, AMD Raven Ridge APUs, AMD Evergreen chips, and laptops with NVIDIA graphics cards. On Linux, WebRender is still <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/wiki.mozilla.org\/Platform\/GFX\/WebRender_Where\">enabled<\/a><\/noindex> for Intel and AMD cards is available in nightly builds, and is not supported for NVIDIA cards. To forcibly enable it in about:config, the settings 'gfx.webrender.all' and 'gfx.webrender.enabled' should be activated, or Firefox should be launched with the environment variable MOZ_WEBRENDER=1 set. <\/p>\n<li class=\"l\"> For users from Germany, a new section has been added on the new tab page with articles recommended by the Pocket service, which were previously offered to users from the USA and the UK. The content personalization related to recommendations is performed on the client side and does not transmit user data to third parties (the entire list of recommended links for the current day is loaded into the browser, ranked on the user side based on browsing history data). To disable recommended Pocket content, there is a setting in the configurator (Firefox Home Content\/Recommended by Pocket) and the option 'browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.feeds.topsites' in about:config.\n<li class=\"l\"> For Linux systems with Wayland due to stability issues <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/bugzilla.mozilla.org\/show_bug.cgi?id=1645706\">hardware acceleration is disabled<\/a><\/noindex> by default, the use of the DMABUF mechanism for rendering video to textures. To enable it in about:config, the variable<br \/>\n'widget.wayland-dmabuf-video-textures.enabled'.<\/p>\n<li class=\"l\"> A new button 'Clear Startup cache' has appeared on the about:support page for clearing caches that affect browser startup. The button may help resolve some issues that occur at launch.\n<li class=\"l\"> Links with the target=&quot;_blank&quot; attribute in tags &lt;a&gt; and &lt;area&gt; now <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/bugzilla.mozilla.org\/show_bug.cgi?id=1522083\">is processed<\/a><\/noindex> similar to using the rel='noopener' attribute, i.e., they are perceived as untrusted pages. For pages opened through these links, the Window.opener property is not set, and access to the context from which the link was opened is not granted.\n<li class=\"l\"> For iframes, the sandbox attribute has a parameter &#171;allow-top-navigation-by-user-activation&#187;, which allows navigation to the parent page from the isolated iframe with a user's explicit click on a link, while preventing automatic redirects. This option is useful for placing banners in iframes, allowing transitions to relevant ads while blocking unwanted activities (such as automatic redirection to other pages).\n<li class=\"l\"> New HTTP headers have been added  <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/developer.mozilla.org\/en-US\/docs\/Web\/HTTP\/Headers\/Cross-Origin-Embedder-Policy\">Cross-Origin-Embedder-Policy<\/a><\/noindex> (COEP) and <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/developer.mozilla.org\/en-US\/docs\/Web\/HTTP\/Headers\/Cross-Origin-Opener-Policy\">Cross-Origin-Opener-Policy<\/a><\/noindex> (COOP), allowing a special cross-origin isolation mode for the secure use of privileged operations on the page, which can be used to carry out attacks through side channels, such as Spectre.\n<li class=\"l\"> Support for the object <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/developer.mozilla.org\/en-US\/docs\/Web\/JavaScript\/Reference\/Global_Objects\/SharedArrayBuffer\">SharedArrayBuffer<\/a><\/noindex> (which allows creating arrays in shared memory), disabled after the detection of Spectre-class attacks. To ensure protection against Spectre, the SharedArrayBuffer object is now only available on pages processed in cross-origin isolation mode.
