In the codebase for the upcoming Linux kernel 5.9 release, in the USB subsystem accepted<\/a><\/noindex> changes<\/a><\/noindex> with the removal of politically incorrect terms. Changes have been made in accordance with recently accepted<\/a><\/noindex> recommendations for using inclusive terminology in the Linux kernel. <\/p>\n

The code has been cleansed of the terms \u2018slave\u2019, \u2018master\u2019, \u2018blacklist\u2019, and \u2018whitelist\u2019. For example, instead of the phrase \u2018usb slave device\u2019, the term \u2018usb gadget device\u2019 is now used; the expression \u2018master\/slave protocol\u2019 has been replaced with \u2018host\/device protocol\u2019; \u2018slave\u2019 is referred to as \u2018device\u2019, while \u2018master\u2019 has been changed to \u2018controller\u2019 or \u2018host\u2019. The term \u2018blacklist\u2019 has been replaced with \u2018ignore\u2019, \u2018some\u2019, or \u2018disable\u2019, and \u2018whitelist\u2019 is now referred to as \u2018productlist\u2019. These changes also affect the names of header files, structures, and functions.<\/p>\n
