Every time I show it to people, I see their faces light up \u2014 the result of small bulbs in their minds indicating emerging ideas on how they can use it.<\/p>\n<h3>It's time to unleash your geek!<\/h3>\n<p>\n<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Understanding in Practice: DMVPN and Per-Tunnel QoS\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/32a5335649f5356d7468d31ba8494ae6.jpg\" style=\"display:block;margin: 0 auto;\" \/><br \/>\n<br \/>\nLet\u2019s assume that <b>Branch_1<\/b> and <b>Branch_2<\/b> are in the same DMVPN tunnel with the DMVPN hub <b>\"Foxtrot14\"<\/b>. We would like to apply a QoS policy from the hub to the spoke for <b>Branch_2<\/b>, but not for <b>Branch_1<\/b>. Since they are in the same mGRE tunnel, how can we achieve this?<noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" name=\"habracut\"><\/a><\/noindex><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Understanding in Practice: DMVPN and Per-Tunnel QoS\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/deb086dbe9a93731180b4fec43ef6dca.jpg\" style=\"display:block;margin: 0 auto;\" \/><br \/>\n<br \/>\nEssentially, what we need to do is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On the DMVPN hub:\n<ol>\n<li>We configure various QoS policies in the global configuration section that you want the hub to 'offer' as QoS policies for the spokes<\/li>\n<li>We apply all the policies that you intend to 'offer' to the spokes in the DMVPN tunnel interface using the command <b>ip nhrp map group<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>On the DMVPN spoke, we configure the DMVPN interface with the name of the mapped group that you would like to apply to it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<h3>On the DMVPN hub<\/h3>\n<p>\nLet\u2019s break this down:<\/p>\n<p><i>\"1) Configure various QoS policies in the global configuration section that you want the hub to 'offer' as QoS policies for the spokes\"<\/i><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Understanding in Practice: DMVPN and Per-Tunnel QoS\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/17adcd6668dcc3232e5f399b04015cd6.jpg\" style=\"display:block;margin: 0 auto;\" \/><br \/>\n<br \/>\nSo, overall, what you can see above is that we are configuring our DMVPN hub to offer 5 different QoS options to the spokes.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>1.5Mbps<\/li>\n<li>2Mbps<\/li>\n<li>5Mbps<\/li>\n<li>10Mbps<\/li>\n<li>Unlimited<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\n<i>\"2) Apply all the policies that you intend to 'offer' to the spokes in the DMVPN tunnel interface using the command ip nhrp map group\"<\/i><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Understanding in Practice: DMVPN and Per-Tunnel QoS\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/1603d801ddd6d4aaa5a772188540af37.jpg\" style=\"display:block;margin: 0 auto;\" \/><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<h3>On the DMVPN spoke<\/h3>\n<p>\n<i>\"On the DMVPN spoke, we configure the DMVPN interface with the name of the mapped group that you would like to apply to it.\"<\/i><\/p>\n<p>So I just move to <b>Echo3 (Branch_2)<\/b> and put the command <code>\"ip nhrp group spoke-2Mbps\"<\/code> in the spoke's tunnel interface.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Understanding in Practice: DMVPN and Per-Tunnel QoS\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/75d204d79389ccf6a98b65dc6436f42a.jpg\" style=\"display:block;margin: 0 auto;\" \/><br \/>\n<br \/>\nWhat will happen now? <b>Echo3<\/b> simply places the name \"spoke-2Mbps\" in the NHRP registration request. Voila! It's actually that simple. Neat, right?
