Available<\/a><\/noindex> project release EndeavourOS 2020.09.20<\/a><\/noindex>, replacing<\/a><\/noindex> the Antergos distribution, which was has been put into operation.<\/a><\/noindex> discontinued in May 2019 due to the remaining maintainers lacking the free time necessary to support the project adequately. The distribution offers a straightforward installer for setting up the Arch Linux base environment with Xfce desktop by default and the option to install one of 9 predefined desktops based on i3-wm, Openbox, Mate, Cinnamon, GNOME, Deepin, Budgie, and KDE. EndeavourOS allows users to install Arch Linux with the desired desktop exactly as intended in its standard setup provided by the developers of the chosen desktop, without additional pre-installed software. The size of the installation image<\/a><\/noindex> 1.7 GB (x86_64, ARM<\/a><\/noindex>).<\/p>\n

The new release has begun forming builds for various boards based on ARM architecture processors. The builds are based on Arch Linux ARM and have been tested on Odroid N2 boards,
\n Odroid N2+, Odroid XU4, and Raspberry PI 4b, but can also be used on other supported boards and devices, Arch Linux ARM<\/a><\/noindex>, including Pinebook Pro,
\n Pine64, and Rock64. Except for Deepin, all desktop environments provided in EndeavourOS are available for ARM: Xfce, LXqt, Mate, Cinnamon, GNOME, Budgie, KDE Plasma, and i3-WM.<\/p>\n

Among the general changes, the update of software versions is notable. The Linux kernel has been updated to version 5.8.10. The capabilities of the Welcome program, which greets users when logging into the system, have been significantly expanded. The new version includes a button for changing screen resolution, updating the mirror list, changing desktop wallpapers, and viewing packages in the default Arch repositories and AUR. Changes have been made to the installer. The installation of the GNOME Software and KDE Discover application managers, which were not used in EndeavourOS but misled users, has been discontinued.<\/p>\n
