Installation images of RHEL 7.9  <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/access.redhat.com\/downloads\/\">are<\/a><\/noindex> are available for download only to registered users of the Red Hat Customer Portal and are prepared for x86_64, IBM POWER7+, POWER8 (big endian and little endian), and IBM System z architectures. The source texts of the packages can be downloaded from <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/git.centos.org\/\">the Git repository<\/a><\/noindex> of the CentOS project. <\/p>\n<p>The RHEL 7.x branch is maintained parallel to the <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=50644\">RHEL 8.x<\/a><\/noindex> will be supported until June 2024. The first phase of support for the RHEL 7.x branch, which included functional enhancements, has been completed. The release of RHEL 7.9 was prepared after  <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/access.redhat.com\/support\/policy\/updates\/errata\">transitioning<\/a><\/noindex> moving to the maintenance phase, where the priorities shifted towards bug fixes and security, with minor improvements related to important hardware support. <\/p>\n<p>Among <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/access.redhat.com\/documentation\/en-us\/red_hat_enterprise_linux\/7\/html-single\/7.9_release_notes\/index\">the changes<\/a><\/noindex>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Versions of several packages have been updated (SSSD 1.16.5, pacemaker 1.1.23, FreeRDP 2.1.1, MariaDB 5.5.68);\n<li class=\"l\"> An EDAC (Error Detection and Correction) driver for Intel ICX systems has been added;\n<li class=\"l\"> Support for Mellanox ConnectX-6 Dx network adapters has been implemented;\n<li class=\"l\"> Drivers have been updated (QLogic FCoE, HP Smart Array Controller, Broadcom MegaRAID SAS, QLogic Fibre Channel HBA Driver, Microsemi Smart Family Controller);\n<li class=\"l\"> Support for SCSI T10 DIF\/DIX (Data Integrity Field\/Data Integrity Extension) technologies and Intel Omni-Path Architecture (OPA) has been provided.\n<li class=\"l\"> Parameters bert_disable and bert_enable have been added to the kernel to control the activation of BERT (Boot Error Record Table) in problematic BIOS, as well as the srbds parameter for enabling protection against the vulnerability <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=53126\">SRBDS<\/a><\/noindex> (Special Register Buffer Data Sampling).\n<\/ul>\n<p>Hot on the heels of this, Oracle <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.oracle.com\/linux\/announcing-the-release-of-oracle-linux-7-update-9\">has created<\/a><\/noindex> the release of the distribution <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.oracle.com\/us\/technologies\/linux\/product\/overview\/index.html\">Oracle Linux 7.9<\/a><\/noindex>, built on the package base of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.9. For unrestricted loading <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/yum.oracle.com\/oracle-linux-isos.html\">is distributed<\/a><\/noindex> an installation ISO image, sized 4.7 GB, prepared for x86_64 and ARM64 (aarch64) architectures. For Oracle Linux, it also <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/edelivery.oracle.com\/linux\">is open<\/a><\/noindex> provides unlimited and free access to the yum repository with binary package updates for bug fixes (errata) and security issues.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the kernel package from RHEL (3.10.0-1160), Oracle Linux includes <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=52670\">released<\/a><\/noindex> the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel 6 (kernel-uek-5.4.17-2011.6.2.el7uek) released in spring, which is offered by default. The kernel source code, including partitioning into separate patches, is available in the public <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/oss.oracle.com\/git\/?p=linux-uek.git;a=summary\">Git repository<\/a><\/noindex> of Oracle. The kernel is positioned as an alternative to the standard kernel package provided in Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and offers a range of  <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=38229\">enhancements<\/a><\/noindex> <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=43644\">the features<\/a><\/noindex>, such as DTrace integration and improved Btrfs support. Besides the kernel, Oracle Linux 7.9 <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.oracle.com\/en\/operating-systems\/oracle-linux\/7\/relnotes7.9\/\">is similar to<\/a><\/noindex> RHEL
