\u00abIntel platforms produced this year are expected to be unable to run 32-bit operating systems, unable to use related software (at least natively), and unable to utilize older hardware, such as RAID HBAs (and therefore older hard drives connected to those HBAs), network cards, and even graphics cards that lack UEFI-compatible vBIOS (released before 2012 \u2013 2013), etc.\u00bb<\/p>\n

Developers at Fedora are discussing the complete abandonment of BIOS in favor of UEFI. The discussion was initiated on June 30, but it is currently very active.<\/p>\n

P.S. As far as I understand, they wanted to implement this in the upcoming Fedora 33 scheduled for release this week (release on the 20th, announcement on the 27th, after it has been uploaded to all mirrors), but it has been postponed for now.<\/p>\n
