An experimental release of the open implementation of WinAPI \u2014 Wine 6.3 has occurred. Since the release of version 6.2, 24 bug reports have been closed and 456 changes have been made. <\/p>\n

The WineGStreamer library has been converted to the PE executable file format.\n
The WIDL (Wine Interface Definition Language) compiler has expanded support for WinRT IDL (Interface Definition Language).\n

At the same time, the Wine Staging 6.3 project release has been formed, which creates extended Wine builds, including incomplete or risky patches that are not yet suitable for inclusion in the main Wine branch. Compared to Wine, Wine Staging provides 694 additional patches. <\/p>\n
The new release has synchronized with the Wine 6.3 codebase. 14 patches have been transferred to the main Wine composition, mainly related to WIDL support and enhancing ntdll capabilities. Patches for supporting DiscordSetup.exe and for using UAC (User Account Control) when launching installers and applications like WhatsApp Desktop, Smartflix, Squirrel, and OneDrive with reduced privileges have been added. Patches packager-DllMain, nvcuda-CUDA_Support, api-ms-win-Stub_DLLs, nvapi-Stub_DLL, and ntdll-Junction_Points have been updated. <\/p>\n
Additionally, Valve has published VKD3D-Proton 2.2, a fork from the vkd3d codebase, created to improve Direct3D 12 support in the Proton game launch package. VKD3D-Proton supports Proton-specific modifications, optimizations, and enhancements for better performance of Windows games based on Direct3D 12 that have not yet been accepted into the main vkd3d composition. The new version adds support for VRS (Variable Rate Shading) and begins the implementation of DXR (DirectX Raytracing) support.
