A new way to find compatible components for upgrading your computer is now available through the hw-probe telemetry client and the supported hardware database from the Linux-Hardware.org project. The idea is quite simple \u2014 different users of the same computer model (or motherboard) may use different individual components for various reasons: differences in configurations, upgrades, or repairs, or installing additional hardware. Accordingly, if at least two people have sent telemetry for the same computer model, each of them can be offered a list of the other's components as upgrade options. <\/p>\n
This method does not require knowledge of computer specifications or special expertise in component compatibility \u2014 you simply select the components that have already been installed and tested by other users or provided by vendors on the same computer. <\/p>\n
A button 'Find compatible parts for upgrade' has been added to the probe page of each computer in the database for searching compatible hardware. Thus, to search for compatible components for your computer, you just need to create its probe in the most suitable way. In doing so, the participant helps not only themselves but also other users looking for hardware upgrades. If you are using operating systems other than Linux, you can find the desired computer model through search or create a probe using any Linux Live USB.
