Debian project developers have announced that the package base of Debian 11 \u2018Bullseye\u2019 has reached full freeze stage, during which the process of transferring key packages and packages without autopkgtests from unstable to testing will be completely halted. The phase of intensive testing and fixing release-blocking issues will begin. In special cases, packages from unstable may be manually transferred, but this requires approval from the release preparation team. <\/p>\n

Let us remind you that on January 15, 2021, the first freeze stage of the Debian 11 package base was implemented, during which 'transitions' (updates of packages requiring adjustments of dependencies for other packages, temporarily removing them from Testing) were halted, and updates of packages necessary for building (build-essential) were also stopped. On February 12, a soft freeze of the package base occurred, ceasing the acceptance of new source packages and closing the possibility of re-including previously removed packages. <\/p>\n

Currently, there are 240 critical release-blocking bugs (two months ago there were 472, at the time of the freeze in Debian 10 \u2014 316, Debian 9 \u2014 275, Debian 8 \u2014 350, Debian 7 \u2014 650). The final release of Debian 11 is expected in the summer.
