The organizer of the vote, Steve Langasek from Canonical, limited the discussion period to one week (previously, at least two weeks were allocated for discussion). Among the founders of the vote were also Neil McGovern, Steve McIntyre, and Sam Hartman, who have served as project leader of Debian in previous years. <\/p>\n

Additionally, The Document Foundation, which oversees the development of the LibreOffice office suite, joined the criticism of Stallman. It announced the suspension of the participation of a representative of the Free Software Foundation in its advisory council and the cessation of cooperation with the Free Software Foundation until the situation changes. The petition was also signed by Creative Commons, GNU Radio, OBS Project, and SUSE. Meanwhile, an open letter demanding the resignation of the entire board of directors of the Free Software Foundation and the removal of Stallman was signed by about 2,400 people, while a letter in support of Stallman was signed by 2,000 people. <\/p>\n

Addendum 1: Geoffrey Knauth, president of the Free Software Foundation, stated that he is prepared to step down and leave the board of directors as soon as new leaders are formed who can ensure the continuity of the Free Software Foundation's mission and compliance with asset management requirements. <\/p>\n

Addendum 2: Red Hat opposed Stallman and announced the freeze of funding for the Free Software Foundation and all events conducted by this organization.
