He also stepped down from his role in charge of Perl releases, ceased participation in the grant committee, declined to speak at the Perl conference, and deleted his Twitter account. However, Sawyer X expressed willingness to finalize the in-development release of Perl 5.34.0, scheduled for May, after which he will remove his access to GitHub, CPAN, and mailing lists.        <\/p>\n<p>His departure is attributed to a desire to no longer tolerate the mocking, offensive, and unfriendly behavior of certain community members. The final straw was a discussion regarding the advisability of retaining some outdated features of the Perl language (Sawyer X is one of the initiators of the Perl 7 branch aimed at replacing Perl 5 with a break in backward compatibility, which some other developers disagree with).         <\/p>\n<p>After the restructuring of the project management process, Sawyer X, along with Ricardo Signes and Neil Bowers, was elected to the decision-making board regarding the development of Perl.
