A group of maintainers and developers of various GNU projects, most of whom previously advocated for moving away from Stallman's sole leadership towards collective management, founded the GNU Assembly community, with which they attempted to reform the governance system of the GNU project. The GNU Assembly is presented as a platform for collaboration among GNU package developers who act for user freedom and share the proposed vision of the GNU project. <\/p>\n
The GNU Assembly is positioned as a new home for developers and maintainers of GNU projects who are dissatisfied with the current governance organization. The governance model of the GNU Assembly has not yet been definitively established and is currently under discussion. The governance structures of the GNOME Foundation and Debian are considered as reference models. <\/p>\n
Among the key principles of the project are the transparency of all processes and discussions, collective decision-making based on consensus, and adherence to a code of conduct that welcomes diversity among participants and promotes friendly interactions. The GNU Assembly welcomes all participants, regardless of their gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, professional level, and any other personal characteristics. <\/p>\n
