Se ha identificado una vulnerabilidad cr\u00edtica en Git (CVE-2021-29468) que se manifiesta \u00fanicamente al compilar para el entorno Cygwin (una biblioteca que emula la API b\u00e1sica de Linux en Windows y un conjunto de programas tipo Linux para Windows). Esta vulnerabilidad permite a un atacante ejecutar c\u00f3digo al extraer datos («git checkout») de un repositorio controlado por el atacante. El problema se ha solucionado en el paquete git 2.31.1-2 para Cygwin. En el proyecto principal de Git, el problema a\u00fan no ha sido corregido (es poco probable que alguien compile Git para Cygwin manualmente en lugar de utilizar un paquete preconstruido). <\/p>\n

La vulnerabilidad se debe al tratamiento del entorno Cygwin como un sistema similar a Unix, y no como Windows, lo que resulta en la falta de restricciones sobre el uso del car\u00e1cter ‘\’ en la ruta, mientras que en Cygwin, al igual que en Windows, este car\u00e1cter puede ser utilizado para dividir directorios. Como resultado, a trav\u00e9s de la creaci\u00f3n de un repositorio especialmente modificado que contenga enlaces simb\u00f3licos y archivos con el car\u00e1cter de barra invertida, se puede lograr sobreescribir archivos arbitrarios al cargar este repositorio en Cygwin (en Git para Windows, una vulnerabilidad similar fue corregida en 2019).
