El proyecto EPEL (Paquetes Extra para Linux Empresarial), que se encarga de mantener el repositorio de paquetes adicionales para RHEL y CentOS, ha anunciado la creaci\u00f3n de una variante del repositorio para las distribuciones Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9-beta y CentOS Stream 9. Las compilaciones binarias se forman para las arquitecturas x86_64, aarch64, ppc64le y s390x. <\/p>\n

En esta fase de desarrollo del repositorio, solo se han publicado algunos paquetes adicionales, apoyados por la comunidad de Fedora Linux. Todos los paquetes propuestos est\u00e1n relacionados con la implementaci\u00f3n de la herramienta iptables, cuyo soporte ha sido descontinuado en RHEL 9 en favor de nftables. <\/p>\n

Es importante destacar que antes el repositorio EPEL se formaba tras un lanzamiento significativo de RHEL, pero ahora, gracias a la aparici\u00f3n de CentOS Stream 9, el repositorio EPEL 9 se ha lanzado aproximadamente 5 meses antes del lanzamiento de RHEL 9. Esto explica el reducido n\u00famero de paquetes ofrecidos; a medida que lleguen las solicitudes de los usuarios y la actividad de los mantenedores, la cantidad de paquetes se ampliar\u00e1 gradualmente. <\/p>\n

Antes del lanzamiento de RHEL 9, previsto para mayo, EPEL 9 se formar\u00e1 en base a CentOS Stream 9 y luego se trasladar\u00e1 a la compilaci\u00f3n para RHEL 9. Por separado, se est\u00e1 formando el repositorio EPEL Next basado en CentOS Stream 8, mientras que EPEL 8 contin\u00faa compil\u00e1ndose para RHEL 8 y puede ser utilizado en distribuciones que han continuado el desarrollo de CentOS 8.x cl\u00e1sico.
