Despu\u00e9s de tres a\u00f1os desde el \u00faltimo lanzamiento, se ha formado la versi\u00f3n 0.28 del sistema de reconocimiento de texto Ocrad (Reconocimiento \u00d3ptico de Caracteres), desarrollado bajo el auspicio del proyecto GNU. Ocrad se puede utilizar tanto en forma de biblioteca para integrar funciones OCR en otras aplicaciones, como en forma de una utilidad independiente que, a partir de una imagen proporcionada, produce texto en UTF-8 o codificaciones de 8 bits. <\/p>\n

Para el reconocimiento \u00f3ptico, Ocrad utiliza el m\u00e9todo de extracci\u00f3n de caracter\u00edsticas (feature extraction). Incluye un analizador de dise\u00f1o de p\u00e1gina que permite separar correctamente columnas y bloques de texto en documentos impresos. El reconocimiento solo es compatible con caracteres de las codificaciones \u00abascii\u00bb, \u00abiso-8859-9\u00bb y \u00abiso-8859-15\u00bb (no hay soporte para cir\u00edlico). <\/p>\n

Se observa que la nueva versi\u00f3n incluye una gran cantidad de peque\u00f1as correcciones y mejoras. El cambio m\u00e1s significativo fue la adici\u00f3n del soporte para el formato de im\u00e1genes PNG, implementado mediante la biblioteca libpng, lo que facilit\u00f3 enormemente el trabajo con el programa, ya que anteriormente solo se pod\u00edan proporcionar im\u00e1genes en formatos PNM.
