Se ha descubierto una vulnerabilidad (CVE-2022-24122) en el n\u00facleo de Linux en el c\u00f3digo de manejo de restricciones rlimit en diferentes espacios de nombres de identificadores de usuarios (user namespaces), que permite elevar los privilegios en el sistema. El problema se presenta desde el n\u00facleo de Linux 5.14 y se solucionar\u00e1 en las actualizaciones 5.16.5 y 5.15.19. Las ramas estables de Debian, Ubuntu, SUSE\/openSUSE y RHEL no se ven afectadas, pero el problema aparece en los n\u00facleos recientes de Fedora y Arch Linux. <\/p>\n

El error se introdujo en una modificaci\u00f3n a\u00f1adida en el verano de 2021, que traslad\u00f3 la implementaci\u00f3n de algunos contadores RLIMIT para usar la estructura \u00abucounts\u00bb. Los objetos \u00abucounts\u00bb creados para RLIMIT continuaron utiliz\u00e1ndose despu\u00e9s de que se liberara la memoria asignada a ellos (uso despu\u00e9s de liberaci\u00f3n) al eliminar el espacio de nombres asociado, lo que permit\u00eda ejecutar c\u00f3digo en el nivel del kernel. <\/p>\n

La explotaci\u00f3n de la vulnerabilidad por un usuario no privilegiado solo es posible si se ha habilitado en el sistema el acceso no privilegiado al espacio de nombres de identificadores de usuarios (unprivileged user namespace), que est\u00e1 habilitado por defecto en Ubuntu y Fedora, pero no est\u00e1 activado en Debian y RHEL. Como soluci\u00f3n alternativa para bloquear la vulnerabilidad, se puede desactivar el acceso no privilegiado al user namespace: sysctl -w kernel.unprivileged_userns_clone=0
